It's the last day of 2002. It's been a good yet unmemorable year. I like 2002 because I like writing 2002. I don't know if I'll like writing 2003.

I finally mastered the Rubik's Cube without peeling off the stickers and sticking them back in the right spots. It took me a week to figure it out. It's actually not very difficult. I was kind of bummed on how easy it was. We always approached the problem the wrong way. We try to solve each face at a time. There are millions of combinations that way. The secret is to solve it by layers. It’s a different way to approach a problem. I believe most problems can be solved with a different approach. The unconventional way to solve problems might just be the best. I'll save that for another day.

Have a great year everyone.

It's sad that most schools have taken the arts out because of budget cuts. Instead of the arts, there are classes like bowling now. I'm so glad they got rid of the arts and replaced it with bowling. What's really important? Which skill will better prepare you in the long run? Bowling of course. We don't need more music. We need more bowlers.

Merry Christmas everyone! We did the usual this year. It was my Grandma's birthday like always so we went to Coco's for lunch. I had the chicken fried steak which was decent. Afterwards I took a huge nap. We had hot pot for dinner at home. The usual Christmas stuff.

Ostriches run really fast. Their knees also bend backwards compared to humans. When I try to run backwards, I can't run as fast as I can forwards. I bet ostriches can run a lot faster if they ran backwards. They're already quite fast running forwards. It would be odd to see ostriches run backwards especially if another animal is chasing them.

Today is a great day! I broke my favorite cup a few days ago. It was one of those large plastic Coca-Cola cups they give you at the fast food places when you buy a large drink. They have become scarce and I thought I wouldn't be able to find another one like it. Then, my mom saw one in the ad from El Pollo Loco. I went today to check if they had any and they did! A huge stack of them! I was so overjoyed that I bought two. Now I can go back consuming large quantities of water just as I have before.

Christmas is only a few days away. Truthfully, the only thing on people’s minds is presents. I have never received a gift that I have really enjoyed. I guess I'm very hard to shop for. I find shopping for other people just as difficult. It is very hard to find the perfect present. When you have found what you think the perfect gift is, the person receiving the gift probably won't like it. Therefore gift giving should be banned. Like how the saying goes, it's the thought that counts. Action means nothing. We should think about what to get for other people but then buy gifts for ourselves. We can spend the same amount of money as buying gifts for others but we are buying for ourselves so we get the gifts we want. No more buying gifts for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, and other gift giving events. One might think giving money would be a better choice. Then the recipient can get what he likes. Giving money is tacky. There is no thought in it. Remember it's the thought that counts. It is like giving a present with the price tag still on it. The recipient doesn't need to know we bought the gift for two dollars on sale at Food 4 Less. So for this holiday season do not buy me any gifts. I will not buy you any gifts. Just think about buying me something. It's the thought that counts, anyway.

Restaurant Review:

A new Chinese restaurant has opened in San Luis Obispo. It's called Golden Gong and it has a sister restaurant in Grover Beach. It's nice to hear about a new Chinese restaurant here. The dishes were not very big nor were they small. The prices are about average. I went with a large group of people and the restaurant is very busy. There was not enough staff so service was slow which is understandable. The food tasted not as good. It wasn't totally bad. Every dish was very distinct and flavorful. They served us fried rice even when we didn't order it. Everything was a bit salty. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. If you're curious, go ahead and try it but I doubt that you'll want to go back again.
