Many cars have overdrive these days. Most people tell me to always leave it on. It's my understanding that when you turn it off, you are unable to drive in fourth gear. So when I turn off overdrive, a little light on my dashboard lights up and says "O/D off". It makes no sense for a light to turn on when something is turned on. Most of the time when you turn something on, then the light will turn on. I propose to eliminate overdrive. Not the system but just the word. Instead, every time you want to turn off overdrive you turn on underdrive. When you want to drop down a gear, you turn on underdrive and the little light on the dashboard will light up "U/D on". This will make it consistent with the rest of the world.
